Cyclovia Tucson 2010

Unfortunately, Ann Chanecka was sick yesterday and didn’t get to participate in the congressional meetings scheduled for the League of American Bicyclists National Bike Summit.

However, she did write this plea for Cyclovia Tucson volunteers. She says she is feeling a bit better and is determined to attend the congressional ride in honor of Gabrielle Giffords.

Additionally, I’ve got something very exciting in the works for Cyclovia Tucson. I’m hoping to announce it on Monday, but I think it is going to be a lot of fun.

Here is her plea:

Volunteers Needed for Cyclovia2

Organizers of the second annual Cyclovia are calling on people like you to help with the event. There are a few different opportunities for helping out, though day-of intersections volunteers are the most needed at this point. As an intersection volunteer, your primary responsibility is to assist any cars who try to enter the route, and help explain to them how they can get to their destination.  In addition to that though, you can bring fun things to liven up your intersection such as having a bake sale, bringing a hulu hoop, etc. You can have fun while you volunteer for a great cause. You will receive training and you get an awesome Cyclovia t-shirt for your effort.  You can find more about the event and volunteer opportunities by visiting cycloviatucson.org. Also, there is Cyclovia Open House on March 15th from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Santa Rosa Community Center.  Come learn more about the event and volunteering. If you have questions on volunteering, contact Ann Chanecka – achanecka@pagnet.org

Interested in volunteering but not 18? There is information on the web site on how you can assist with this great event. Also, check out this video to learn more about youth volunteering at Cyclovia2.

Thanks to Ariane Mohr-Felsen of the Girl Scouts and Jessica Hersh-Ballering with Volunteer Southern Arizona for making the video!
