The first event of Tucson’s Bike Fest was a bike ride for beginning cyclists organized by the DooDah Road Club.

Cyclists met at Maynard’s market downtown. Because of errors online and in a print magazine, a few cyclists, including myself, showed up at 8 a.m. The ride didn’t officially start until 9 a.m., but the four of us went for a short ride to pass the time.

The DooDah ride included stretches on the Aviation path, Highland Avenue, University Boulevard and then meandered though the historic neighborhoods in downtown Tucson. The loop was about 10.5 miles.

Officials from the DooDah club said they plan on hosting the ride on the first Sunday of every month.

Check out the photos from the ride.

  1. The glitch in start time was my fault, I organized the ride and mis-typed the starting time. Future rides will be the first Sunday of the Month, always starting at Maynard’s Market on Toole. Starting times will vary as the sun comes up earlier and it gets warmer faster. The distance will never be more than about 13 miles. You can check out the particulars of future DooDahs Downtown rides and other rides we hold during the month at our website: http://www.doodahroadclub.org
We also have a weekly email list that we send out with upcoming events and specifics on the weekend’s rides.
Thanks to all who came out and rode with us. Especially to Donna of Pima County who helped with the routes.
