Local cycling phenom Thomas Jondall, 18, is featured along with several other local racing figures in the August issue of  Bicycling Magazine.

The photo spread documents Jondall’s introduction to cycling and the local people who helped him along the way.

According to the piece, Jondall had a troubled home life and occasionally spent the night in parks. He used cycling to get away from his home life.

The piece features images and information about Gary Evans, aka The Gray Wolf, who rode with Jondall and even supplied him with a bike.

Other people featured in the piece are: Dave and Katie Jonsson, who were eventually given custody of Jondall, Neil Stewart, a cycling coach who works with Jondall, Greg and Vicki Hart, Bill Young and Fairwheel Bike Shop owner Ralph Phillips.

Thanks to Kenneth and Edward for the tip.
