The usual Roadrunner silliness regarding bicycles obeying the letter of the law. Just sit in front of Epic Cafe and count the cars running the 4 way. I has at 1 out of 10 making an actual legal stop. The bike v car thing is apples and oranges anyhow. Bikes can literally stop on a dime, have pretty much unlimited vision to the front and sides and weigh a little over 6% of what a mid sized sedan does.
The other thing is the extreme bias that infrastructure in the US has in favour of the automobile. Read this for a more European perspective.

Cars are toxic, bicycles are not. Operating a car in a closed garage yields a very different result than operating a bicycle in a closed garage.
