If you thought riders in the Tour de France would be safe from motorists doing stupid things like crashing into them, you’d be wrong.
I don’t normally blog about national or international things, but I just couldn’t believe it when I saw this while watching the Tour de France yesterday.
Take a look at the video. It starts with the aftermath and quickly has a replay of the entire incident.
Obviously the driver is trying to avoid hitting a tree, but what is wrong with hitting the brake instead?
That’s not the only time a cyclist has been taken down by a motor vehicle in this year’s Tour de France. A few stages back, a motorcycle clipped a racers handlebars knocking him to the ground.
In both cases the people responsible for the crashes have been kicked out of the Tour.
ok, when the car passed, it had like 5 feet of space. so the driver went into panic mode and over compensated and hit the cyclists. the issue is the car’s sudden veering. if the driver was paying attention, he/she would have gradually merged right. if done timely and correctly, the cyclists would have seen the movement and mirrored the movement. inexperienced news drivers. leave the driving for the pros who film this stuff every race.

You know, I just noticed something. The guy in the green went on to win the yellow jersey, and the guy in the orange won the stage. Wonder what the results would have been if those two riders hadn’t been hit.
The french period ….need this race!!!! leave them alone…Tour of Lanceorado was found guilty of Lance. Lance go home and count your your infusions. Utah Tour is in the Car.. Please let Daddy drive!
