Wilson, a father of two was killed when a driver struck him from behind on Tuesday, Sept. 29 while he was riding his bike.
Here’s a remembrance of Wilson:
Daniel Mark Wilson, 30 – Beloved husband, son, extraordinary nephew/cousin, cherished grandson, loving brother and devoted father was suddenly taken from this world Tuesday, September 29th. Dan was born with physical challenges on March 21, 1985, but it was clear that he would succeed in life from the very beginning. It was obvious as he overcame each hurdle in his early life that Dan was here to make us all laugh. In childhood and adolescence, Dan experienced adversity and prevailed over his physical obstacles, proving with honesty, humility and humor that his left arm handicap could not stop him from being a ‘normal kid’. He loved to play a variety of sports, take hikes on Mt. Lemmon and ride his bike for miles. In recent years Dan worked for Amphitheater School District and found his place at Donaldson Elementary School where he made many friends with the staff and students alike. Throughout his life, Dan dabbled with music and even though he was missing his left elbow and two fingers from his left hand, he learned to play the piano as well as taught himself to play the drums. Over the last decade he composed and recorded his own music, a gift that allows his spirit and voice to live on for all of us to enjoy eternally. For most of his time on earth, one could say Dan lived his life to the rhythm of his own music. Fatherhood brought a new tune to Dan’s life; it matured him in a way we never expected. His greatest passion and purpose was being Dad to his daughters, Libbie and Clementine. Every sleepless night, every double shift, every sacrifice Dan made as a father was a direct reflection of the excellent example his own father and mother set while he was growing up. It was obvious to anyone who met Dan that his purpose in life was to do the best for his family and make sure they felt all his love and happiness, even though it was difficult to make ends meet some days. His children will forever be his light and his legacy. Dan is survived by h his loving wife, Ashara Wilson, his precious girls, Libbie and Clementine and his father and mother, Mark and Karen Wilson of Tucson, AZ, his sister, Lauren Wilson (Josh) of Prescott Valley, AZ, as well as many family and friends across the country who will miss him deeply. A memorial service will be held to celebrate Dan’s life at 11:00am, Saturday, October 10, 2015 at the Coyote Trail Elementary School (8000 N Silverbell Rd, Tucson, AZ85743.) In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to one of the fundraisers set up for Dan’s sweet little girls. https://www.youcaring.com/libbie-and-clementine-wilson-442415 or https://www.gofundme.com/xrx7o
