A few weeks ago I introduced the road-improvement map. The idea was to allow TucsonVelo readers the opportunity to voice improvements they would like to see made to Tucson’s infrastructure.
Obviously money is an issue and some projects might be a dream at this point, but it is important that the people who are making the decisions about which projects get funded have an idea what road users want.
As you can see below, there are seven proposed improvements. Which one is the most important to you? Vote in the poll below.

I know what I would like to see is a bike lane out gates pass.
I know that what useful to most people will be a Treat Ave bike boulevard.
I think Treat is more important.

An east-west/west-east connector between Mountain and Treat just north of the UA/UMC mess and finish off Treat to Aviation Bikeway or enough so that it can safely feed bike traffic (via 3rd?) to Reid Park and from there across 22nd to Aviation. Use HAWK when necessary. Heck, put up a sign or two. The point is a bypass around UA/UMC that connects Rillito and Aviation Bikeways without costly duplication of what has been done with Mountain. Perhaps this can be done more to the east, but where? Dodge? (and then there’s all the Grant Road expansion…)

The expansion cracks are on the multi-use path
along River Rd. – not on the road itself.

repaired the expansion cracks on the Santa Cruz river
path on the west side between Silverlake and Congress….
maybe more, but I didn’t ride past there. They are done

What I would really love is for 3rd Street Bikeway to be extended from Wilmot to Houghton. I know there are washes in the way but I would think pedestrian/bike bridges would be minimally invasive.

Mindy, looks like the neighborhood streets exist to accomplish that except for a short connection in the El Gheko neighborhood East of Wilmot (a short paved path/footbridge here would be perfect) and of course the mile between Kolb and Pantano – rather than a super long bike/ped bridge over the mighty ditch and through a private trailer park the city would probably opt for routing bikes up onto Speedway to cross that stretch, but definitely doable. I like it.

Part of Liberty-10th Ave. Bikeway need repaving. Specifically between Ajo and 44th, the road are like crater pockmarked!
