I’m both seriously excited and seriously bummed about Tucson’s first Cranksgiving event this Sunday.

I’m excited about it because I started planning a Cranksgiving last holiday season, but couldn’t make it happen. I’m bummed because I’ve already got commitments that mean I won’t make it.

You, however, should certainly go.

For those of you not familiar with Cranksgiving, it was started in New York City in 1999. Rider are given a shopping list and a list of stores they must buy the groceries from.

Once the riders have all the groceries they head to the finish line where they donate the food to families for Thanksgiving.

Now, almost 40 cities are participating including Tucson.

The Tucson ride begins at 1 p.m. at Himmel Park’s west parking lot.

According to the creators of the event on Facebook, there will be prices awarded to the fastest male and female and the most amount of food by weight (This is the title I would have been gunning for).

Check out the rest of the details and let them know you’ll be coming.
